How to Extend the Life of the Excavator?

Even when the most skilled operators operate the bucket wheel excavator, they will shorten the life of the wheel loader and reduce its productivity due to abuse of certain functions or accelerated component wear. Induction training for excavator operators is essential. This is especially true when new machines enter the fleet. When the operators use a new caterpillar machine for the first time, they may not even realize that they are using it the wrong way. If the operators do not understand the characteristics and technology of excavators, they are likely to misuse the loader. Under such operation, many problems may be caused.

The following describes some of the specific skills of operating the wheel loaders.

Cooling brake

All the loader brakes (except static compressors) work by friction, and friction generates heat. Excessive use of brakes can cause overheating and premature wear, which can cause premature brake failure. For example, an untrained operator drives too fast, then stops short and fast. The operator in a hurry first slams on the accelerator and then slams on the brake to stop quickly or within a short distance, which often makes the brakes easy to fail. In order to prolong the life of the brake, the operator should accurately judge the deceleration in advance, let the weight of the machine and the load make the loader close to a stop, and then step on the brake.

Protect the bucket

The most common wear areas on loaders are the front pins of the excavator, the excavator bucket, the bucket wear plate and the excavator teeth. This wear and tear tends to be accelerated due to lack of routine maintenance. The choice of excavator tilt bucket also affects the wear on the front of the machine. Appropriate use and materials will reduce wear. At the same time, avoid turning the engine speed too high or hitting the pile too hard, as this will stress the bucket and cause the bushings and pins at the front of the machine to wear. In addition, it burns more fuel than needed in the process.

Warm up in advance and leave enough time for rest

When starting the loader, allow it to warm up according to the manufacturer's guidelines. The loader operator should not warm up before starting, as it is very unfriendly to the machinery engine parts and excavator hydraulic pump parts. If the cold oil of the bucket excavator is not well lubricated, it will shorten the life of the components if it does not reach the operating temperature before operation.

At the end of the day, it is equally important to rest the excavator with bucket. If you don't let the machine idle and cool down for at least two to three minutes without oil going to the bearings, this will generate heat and a lot of internal wear.
